Hospitality CV guide — hotels, F&B, and front of house

Write a hospitality resume for hotels, restaurants, and bars: guest metrics, POS systems, RSA certificates, and ATS-safe layouts.

Key takeaway

Hospitality hiring still filters PDFs — name systems, certificates, and covers the way the job ad spells them.

Hospitality CVs cover front desk, F&B service, bartending, housekeeping leadership, and outlet management. Large hotel brands and restaurant groups usually parse applications through ATS before a hiring manager reads them — so layout and keyword honesty matter as much as personality.

Action

Use this guide with the hospitality resume template. Kitchen-track applicants should also read the chef resume guide; retail floor roles may fit the retail CV guide better.

What to put on a hospitality resume

Contact with city/region and phone (shift work is local). Summary naming venue type and team or section size. Experience with guest or sales outcomes. Skills listing POS/PMS tools you actually used. Certifications: RSA / responsible service, first aid, food handler where relevant.

Quantify: covers, average check, review themes, till accuracy, juniors trained, banquet headcount, room turns. Soft claims like "passionate about guests" without proof waste the scan.

Role-specific emphasis

Front desk: PMS name, check-in volume, guest recovery time, languages.

Bartender / server: covers, ticket times, upsell, RSA, allergen notes.

Housekeeping supervisor: rooms covered, team size, quality scores, safety briefings.

Restaurant / outlet manager: team size, labour control, review themes, banquet coordination.

Sample bullets (rewrite with your numbers)

"Processed [N] check-ins per shift in Opera PMS; upsold late checkout and breakfast packages."

"Owned a [N]-table section averaging [N] covers on weekend dinner; logged allergen notes with zero incidents."

"Supervised [N] attendants across [N] rooms; hit morning checkout turn targets on peak occupancy."

"Led FOH team of [N]; kept weekly labour within budget while covering call-outs through cross-training."

ATS and boards

Mirror the job ad for outlet names and systems (Opera, Lightspeed, Toast, Micros) when your experience supports them. Run ATS strength on your master CV, then match score against one posting before export.

Australia: pair with Aussie resume format and Seek-friendly templates. International hotel brands often want English ATS-safe PDFs even when the property is APAC.

Common mistakes

Hiding RSA / liquor certificates while padding a long soft-skill list.

Applying to fine dining with only casual-dining language (or the reverse) without tailoring the summary.

Multi-column design PDFs that break hotel career-portal parsers.

Copying every keyword from the JD for tools you have never touched — interviews will expose it.
