Preparation is respect for the interviewer's time — and insurance against blank-mind moments.

Strong candidates treat interviews like exams with a syllabus: company, role, your stories, and logistics. Weak candidates re-read the homepage once and hope for conversational luck.

One week out is enough for most grad and intern loops if you already have a tailored resume in the pipeline.

Seven days out

Re-read the job description and your submitted CV side by side — every bullet is fair game. Research the company: product, customers, recent news, competitors. Write three questions for the interviewer that show you did the work.

Draft six STAR stories aligned to the posting keywords. Schedule a mock with a friend or career service.

Day before and day of

Test video link, camera, and mic; pick clothes one level above daily student wear. Print or open your resume and the job ad. Plan arrival or login 10 minutes early.

Bring a notebook — write names and follow-up items during the call. Silence phone notifications.

Afterward

Send thank-you within 24 hours. Update pipeline stage. If rejected, ask politely for feedback once — some grad programs share useful notes. Feed learnings back into the next tailor pass on your profile.
