Retail & customer service CV guide

Write retail and CSR resumes that pass brand ATS: sales KPIs, POS/CRM tools, availability, and store or contact-centre proof.

Key takeaway

Retail hiring still filters PDFs — availability, POS, and real KPIs beat a paragraph of passion.

Retail and customer service CVs cover store floor, cashiers, contact centres, and store leadership. Brand career portals usually parse applications through ATS before a hiring manager reads them.

Action

Use the retail resume template plus examples for store manager, assistant manager, sales associate, cashier, CSR, and call centre supervisor. Café and bar floor roles may fit the hospitality CV guide better.

What to quantify

Sales, conversion, units per transaction, CSAT, AHT, till accuracy, team size, or contacts handled. Soft claims without numbers waste the scan. State weekend and evening availability when true — rostered roles filter on it.

Name POS and CRM systems from the job ad only when your experience supports them (Zendesk, Salesforce, brand POS stacks).

Store floor vs contact centre vs management

Associates and cashiers: availability, till accuracy, product knowledge, peak-hour calm.

CSR / contact centre: channel (phone/chat), CRM, first-contact resolution, QA scores.

Assistant / store manager: team size, labour, coaching, shrink awareness, acting-manager stretches.

Sample bullets

"Served customers on a busy floor supporting conversion targets during sale periods; accurate POS and cash handling."

"Handled inbound queues within target AHT while maintaining CSAT above team benchmark; clear CRM notes for escalations."

"Led a team of [N] associates; hit monthly sales and conversion targets; controlled weekly labour within budget."

"Ran evening shifts including cash-up and floor standards; coached new hires on product knowledge and POS."

Common mistakes

Long passion statements with no availability, POS, or KPI proof.

Applying to management roles with only associate bullets and no leadership scope.

Listing every soft skill from a JD ("team player", "fast-paced") instead of tools and outcomes.

Using a creative multi-column PDF that brand ATS scramble.

Fix order

Action

1) One-column layout. 2) Availability + systems in skills. 3) Two bullets with real KPIs or volume. 4) Match score once against the brand posting. 5) Export and apply.
