In most Australian Seek and corporate applications, a cover page is a decorative title sheet — name, target role, sometimes a photo or design — placed before the CV. It is not the same as a cover letter.
For portal uploads (Workday, Greenhouse, Seek Apply), skip the cover page. ATS parsers often treat page one as your experience block; a title sheet can push real content down or scramble fields.

Even then, keep it one page max, no photo for corporate AU roles, and make sure page two starts with a parseable resume heading. Prefer the Australian or ATS classic template for the real CV.
